The company which is owned by Michael Norton who has nearly 30 years of experience in the lifting industry and has worked extensively with crane companies throughout Ireland and abroad. As well as our in-person and on-site training courses, we offer a range of online courses for customers in all industries.

Appointed Person (Lifting Operations) Training

Who should attend?
Supervisors and managers with a responsibility for lifting operations who have sufficient experience of the use of cranes to meet the requirements specified in Safe Use of Cranes. The position of an Appointed Person carries a great deal of responsibility and only suitable personnel should be selected for this role.

Aims:
To make candidates more aware of the Appointed Persons` responsibilities and how best to fulfil them

Regulations, legislation and Codes of Practice
Personal Responsibilities duties and roles
Crane Documentation
Duty Charts and Safety Devices
Lift Loads and load planning
Safe Systems of Work Including Method Statements and risk assessments
Cranes: Types and Terms structure and size
Crane Stability and Ground Pressure Loading pad size
Basic Terminology
Environment

Course Method:
Theory in classroom setting over 4 days including scale drawing and compiling of site lift plan

The duties of the Appointed Person should include:
The assessment of the lifting operation to cover;
1. Planning
2. Selection of cranes
3. Selection of lifting gear
4. Selection of personnel
5. Instruction and supervision
6. Consultation with other responsible bodies if necessary
7. Ensuring that adequate inspection and maintenance of lifting equipment has been carried out.
8. Ensuring that there is an effective procedure for reporting defects and incidents and taking any necessary corrective action.
9. Responsibility for the organisation, control and safety of the lifting operation.

Slinger Signaller Training

While the CSCS Slinger/Signallers program is being delivered countrywide this advanced Slinger Signaller course is designed to give attendees a more in-depth information and practical approach to safe slinging practices.

A slinger/signaller requires skills and Knowledge to completed and fulfil their respective role as part the lifting team. They must know and understand not only the requirements of their job under the regulations but also the safe process and steps to carry out lifting operations safety in the work place.

Proactive Safety through years of experience have designed and delivered this advanced training course for slingers signallers who are involved in attaching loads and directing lifting appliances used in lifting operations.

The course is a 5/6 hour advanced course covering all aspects of lifting operations, lifting equipment, lifting gear inspection processes and the safe down grading of lifting gear used to lift and move load.

Courses can be run nationwide at our customer’s premises & proactive safety will supply all lifting gear involved in the training process.

Client requirements
The client will be required to supply a suitable room for theory presentation and crane for practical aspect of the course.

Who should attend?
Slinger signallers or nominated supervisors who have a basic knowledge of slinger & signalling processes and who are directly or indirectly involved in lifting operations on projects.

The Appointed Persons – Lifting Operations refresher course is designed for workers that already hold the Appointed Persons – Lifting Operations qualification who are in or have been in a role of responsibility associated with the movement of loads.
